About Us
The South Texas Web started doing business in 1996. We began our career way before that on a Tandy 1000 computer with MS-DOS. That PC didn't even have a hard drive. DOS was built into the bios. As the computer age developed, we were able to grow with it and was thrilled when we got Windows 3.1. It was killer! I bought a Compaq Presario 486 DX2 and thought it was killer. It cost almost $2000. What I could get with that now!
I remember dialing up a number on the phone and placing my phone on a "modem". There weren't browsers yet, just bulletin boards you could connect to through AOL, prodigy, or compuserve.
We started our web design with a small wedding site that didn't last very long. They should have held on. At the time, I was a Paramedic for Montgomery County Texas and worked 24/48's, so I always had a couple of days off to play on the computer. The site turned out really nice, so I decided to offer services to anyone that needed a website. I created a MP3 player with visual basic right after mp3's took off. It was killer and offered some features that are still hard to find. The interface looked really nice. Before mp3's, we listened to wave or mod files. They sounded great, but took a lot of space.
Since then, we have developed countless websites. A lot are still there but many have disappeared into the web abyss. We concentrate mainly on php and mysql driven sites now.
We strive to keep our clients happy and offer a high degree of support.
